Today, a whole lot of folks in our little town spent the day watching a baseball game.
But not just any baseball game.
A baseball game 13 years in the making.
The Summer of 2003 was the last time the Scobey Blues Legion baseball team took the field.
Since then, a decline in numbers of available players kept the entire program benched.
But over the last few years, as it became evident that there might just be enough kids coming down the pike to field a team, a group of former Blues players, coaches, and other dedicated community members started planning.
And today, thanks to the help of many volunteers and a small town that stands by its kids above all else, a new chapter in Blues baseball began.
It was a celebration– of small towns…and of what can happen when a community pulls together. It was the best of what Rural America has to offer. And even a soggy day couldn’t dampen the festive atmosphere.
